Formdichtung

Formdichtungen gehören zu den Dichtelementen für translatorische Bewegungen. Sie zählen zu den selbsttätigen Dichtungselementen, weil der Betriebsdruck ihre Dichtwirkung verstärkt. Oft finden sie bei hydraulischen oder pneumatischen Bauteilen Verwendung.

Genutzt werden elastische Materialien, die beim Einbau in drucklosem Zustand eine Vorspannung ermöglichen. Eingesetzt werden Kautschuk und Kunst-Kautschuk für Anwendungen bis 100 °C oder Teflon (PTFE), das auch Anwendungen über 200 °C ermöglicht. Die Gleitgeschwindigkeiten liegen im niedrigen Bereich.

Mögliche Bauformen für Formdichtungen sind:

• Hutmanschetten mit und ohne Feder, bei höherem Druck mit Stützringen
• Topf- oder beidseitig dichtende Doppeltopfmanschetten mit und ohne Feder (etwa Kolbendichtungen)
• Nutringe mit Stützringen oder ohne
• O-Ringe in Nuten

Moulded seal

Moulded seals are a type of sealing element for translational movements. They belong to the group of self-activating sealing elements because the operating pressure reinforces their sealing effect. Moulded seals are often used with hydraulic or pneumatic components.

Elastic materials are used that enable pre-tensioning when fitted in the absence of operating pressure. Rubber and synthetic rubber are used for applications up to 100°C, while Teflon (PTFE) also supports applications above 200°C. Sliding velocities are low.

Possible moulded Seal designs are as follows:

• Cap seals with or without spring and with back-up rings for higher pressures
• Cup seals or double-cup seals sealing on both sides with or without spring (e.g. piston seals)
