thread pitch (n)

The angle of the tool to the workpiece axis must match the thread pitch.

In doing so, the feed must correspond to the thread pitch so that the tool creates the desired profile.

Any one tool can only produce a single thread pitch, but can be used to machine that thread in a range of diameters.
