Once the melt has solidified, the moulds are removed from the ingots.

Afterwards, the shape and dimensions of the casting no longer resemble the original ingot.

Processes include, for example, ingot casting in permanent moulds and continuous casting.

Kokille (f)

Die Kokillen werden dabei von innen oder von hinten mit Wasser gekühlt.

Nach dem Erstarren der Schmelze werden die Kokillen von den Blöcken entfernt.

Zu den Verfahren gehören etwa Blockgießverfahren in Dauerformen (Kokillen) oder Stranggießverfahren.
