The various output shafts of the gears and / or drives are easily matched by machining the Coupling Half on the drive side.
In the case of Coupling Halves with bores, simple machining (reboring, parallel keyway, etc.) is required to ensure they match the drive output shaft of gearboxes/motor drives.
Compared to cable or belt drives that rely on friction and always involve some kind of slip, the drive shaft and output shaft (pinion and gear) always move synchronously in an interlocking chain drive.
