plastic flow (n)

The starting point is a component's plastic flow, i.e. its plastic deformation.

Exceeding the yield point results in plastic flow and thus plastic deformation of the component.

A material's flow stress kf in pascal (Pa, N/m2) is the force F in a uniaxial stress state based on the cross-sectional area (A) that is needed to reach and sustain plastic flow and to achieve permanent deformation.
