Sintering


Sintering is a process from powder metallurgy used to produce powder from metals, ceramics, metal compounds and alloys. This powder is then processed into semi-finished products and finished products. To this end, fine-grained powder is first mechanically compacted in Steel moulding tools before being solidified at high temperatures. This process can take place under a protective gas atmosphere or in a vacuum, for example. Once the sintering temperature is reached (usually between 65 and 80 percent of the melt temperature for one-component systems), the powder particles diffuse (bake together).

The density and porosity of the pressed Material decreases the finer the powder grains are and as the compaction pressure, sintering temperature and time increases.

In the case of multi-component systems, the sintering temperature is usually higher than the melting point of the substance with the lowest melting point.

When working with heterogeneous starting materials, sintering can produce a small amount of liquid phase. However, complete melting should be avoided.

Sintern ist ein Verfahren aus der Pulvermetallurgie, bei dem Pulver aus Metallen, Keramik, Metallverbindungen oder -legierungen gewonnen wird. Dieses wird dann zu Halbzeugen und Fertigteilen verarbeitet. Dazu werden Pulver mit geringen Korngrößen in Formwerkzeugen aus Stahl zunächst mechanisch verdichtet und anschließend bei hohen Temperaturen verfestigt. Dies kann u.a. unter Schutzgasatmosphäre oder auch im Vakuum stattfinden. Ist die Sintertemperatur, meist 65 bis 80 Prozent der Schmelztemperatur bei Einstoffsystemen, erreicht, diffundieren die Teilchen des Pulvers (sie backen zusammen).

Bei feineren Korngrößen des Pulvers sowie steigendem Pressdruck, zunehmender Sintertemperatur und -zeit nimmt die Dichte des Pressstoffes zu und die Porosität ab.

Bei Mehrstoffsystemen liegt die Sintertemperatur meist oberhalb des Schmelzpunktes des niedrigstschmelzenden Stoffes.

Bei heterogenem Ausgangsmaterial kann beim Sintern eine geringe flüssige Phase auftreten. Komplettes Aufschmelzen soll jedoch vermieden werden.

Sinterización


La sinterización es un proceso de la metalurgia de polvos usado para producir polvos de metales, cerámica, compuestos de metal y aleaciones. Este polvo es luego procesado en productos semiterminados y productos terminados.
